2009 Memorial Day Parade

These photographs are from Worthington, Ohio's 2009 Memorial Day Parade. I watched the parade with our Samoyed, Buddy. Buddy loves a parade and this one was no exception. He got petted by many new friends.

The photographs were made with a V
ISTAQUEST VQ 1005 toy digital camera. It cost under $20 and came attached to a keychain. It has a crude, inaccurate flip-up viewfinder and no display LCD to see or review pictures. The lens is tiny, soft, and produces images with saturated off-colors. The shutter operates on its own schedule - it can take several seconds to work, so there isn't precise control of "the decisive moment" on this camera. However, the keychain is substantial and works very nicely.

The VQ 1005 uses SD memory cards which is better than all other cheapo toy digital cameras I have seen. The others only use volatile flash memory, so when the AAA battery gives out (quickly and often) the images are permanently lost. I went through three AAAs during this parade, but I still have all the images because of the SD card feature.

It was a warm day and Buddy was ready for a big drink of water afterwards.
